Chalmers Family Since 2006, St Andrews Church in Langley Mill has had close links with the church in Poiana, Romania. In 2012 we intend to take 2 teams out to work with the church there, running a Children’s Club, visiting some of the church families to see what life in the village is like and carrying out a practical project in the grounds of the church. We will stay with the Chalmers Family, the Pastors of the church, who have been working in Romania for many years now.

At St Andrews, we support the work in the village in many ways:-
  • Sending out warm clothing for the winter (when it can drop to -35 degrees!)
  • Sending Christmas Shoe Boxes with gifts etc for the children.
  • Financially supporting the work in the village, in 2008 we sent over £3000.
  • Sending teams to work with the children and do practical work in the church and village.
  • Pray for the church on a regular basis.
The work that our teams do is Christian based, sharing the good news of Jesus in real, practical and enjoyable ways. The trips are NOT a holiday and often involve some physical work.

Many houses in the village do not have running water or electricity and by our standards, the people are very poor, but we guarantee that we will return having cried a few tears, had many laughs and been challenged and encouraged. Map of Romania
